The rest of the board voted NO to fully fund the sheriff during 2024.

introduced both resolutions and an amendment to an ordinance which were voted down until the pressure was great enough that the Sheriff received more funding.
Buck voted against Sheriff's funding on March 27th. Saine voted for it.

 Saine introduced multiple resolutions in April and May and was successful in pushing through funding for the Sheriff's office in 2024.

After making several attempts to fully fund the sheriff, Saine called a work session regarding fully funding the Sheriff's Office operational needs during this immigration crisis.

The vote was 4-1, Perry Buck, Kevin Ross, Mike Freeman, and Scott James against fully funding the Sheriff on March 27th during the immigration crisis.

On November 14th, 2023, the sheriff said he had no budget needs according to staff:




After a vote to raise taxes for a 78 million Ag building failed in October and then a failed vote to raise taxes for facilities in November, the Sheriff suddenly needed funds on December 5th 2023.
